Falmouth

Established in 2006 by a local group of just six residents eighteen years later in 2024 we are over thirty strong and have proudly gained a world wide reputation. Our volunteer group consists of mainly retired men & women all with a passion for Falmouth and Cornwall and keen to share the beautiful region we live in with the thousands of cruise ship passengers who visit each year.

In December 2016 Falmouth was judged to be the Best Coastal Community Town in the Great British High Street awards - a highly prestigious national accolade which the town was absolutely delighted to receive.  And in March 2017 the town was deemed by the Times newspaper to be one of the "coolest" places to live and furthermore also topped a poll by readers of the influential Sunday Times to be the best place to live in the whole of the U.K. Is it any wonder that we're all so very proud of our marvellous town!

Known as the “pale blues” due to the distinctive uniform we wear we’re down on the quayside to meet and greet every cruise ship that calls offering help, information and directions. During our existence we’ve gained many national and local awards including a gold award from Enjoy England in 2008 for outstanding customer service and in March 2016 we were honoured to receive the Spirit of Falmouth award on the personal commendation of Falmouth Town Mayor Councillor John Body. We are one of just two recipients to ever receive this recognition. In 2018 we were one of just three Cornish volunteer groups to be nominated for the highly prestigious Queen's Award for Voluntary Service and in December 2019 we were presented with the Andy Hocking Community Service Award by the current Falmouth Town Mayor Councillor Steve Eva. We are only the second group to ever receive it. We also help with many Falmouth Town events throughout the year such as the annual Christmas Weekend Festival and particularly in 2023 with the Tall Ships Festival and the U.K. Armed Forces Day National Event
Since 2024 we are proud to be an accredited member of the Cornish Heritage Volunteers Scheme

June 2024

In May 2024 Falmouth was honoured to receive the 2023 Best Event Award covering the whole of the U.K. & Ireland for the staging of the Tall Ships Festival 15/18th August. The Cruise Ship Ambassadors (in our “pale blues”) were pleased to help throughout and were invited to the picture shoot below that made the Local and National press
